Birds of Nilgiris – a photo compilation

| Bird Photography, Guest Posts | September 10, 2012

Have you gone birding in the Nilgiris?

To me, Nilgiris has always been an amazing place for birding. The place is always teeming with birds.

Here is a compilation of a few birds that are found in Nilgiris. Few of them are common birds found in other places too, but quite a few are endemic to the place. It’s not a comprehensive compilation. There are a few birds like the Nilgiri Wood Pigeon that I haven’t got a shot of. Hope I get a good one in my next trip.

All the images are from 2-3 trips I made in 2009. You could read the trip reports here and here.

The lens used was the Nikon 70-300mm VR. (Am not a 500mm fanboy).

Here goes the list.
